Day 89 / Tag 89 June 9 Los Angeles

After a coffee and an undefinable piece of dough with cinnamon flavour, I try to document my $100 hotel before I leave, as mentioned earlier, cheap by all means.

Looks so nice outside

Where to go in L.A., if you have one day and must return a rental car close to the airport by 8pm?
I decide to take a road trip to Hollywood,

taking part of famous Route 66
 through Beverly Hills

 crossing Sunset Boulevard

and hang out at Hollywood Burgers at Hollywood and Vine for a while,

taking pictures of the people walking down Hollywood Boulevard.

Took some pictures of stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and drive up into the hills, Griffith Park, to the Observatory, to get the big picture

The chancelor never told us about this...;-)

James Dean's star
and this is what it looks like when you zoom out
nice mural on Vine Street

well, no comment

The Griffith Observatory has a James dean Statue for his motion picture "Rebel without a cause" that shows the observatory as what is really is up there, and it is one of the places, where you can see the Hollywood sign quite well. But mostly, it is for the big picture

The sun dial is pretty precise, just 10 minutes ahead

These hollow eyes are creepy

Stargazing without a cause

Time to return the Pony Car at the airport, I drive down Santa Monica Boulevard from Hollywood down to the sea,

Can almost smell the ocean

what a job

make a U-turn at Santa Monica Pier

Just too many people, too little time

and drive down Lincoln Avenue towards the airport, hitting Highway One a last time
Suf's up!

Backstreet America

Highway One, last time

last glimpse at the Pacific Ocean

passing a crazy art shop (the bus looks like they are Burners and you can meet them in Black Rock Cityon the Playa later this year ;-)

Before delivering the car I fill it up at a gas station with a 7-Eleven, and take care of the good old american habit of brown-bagging...

Problem: beer in public

Solution: brownbagging

Delivery is a snap, shuttle bus to the airport,

United has changed aircraft and gate, I get to sit in row 2, very comfortable, normal price for this seat is like $500 more than I paid, well, I wont complain, and off we go to Cancun, Mexico at 1 am on June 10.

See you under water
