Day 27-28 / Tag 27-28, April 8-9 From Koh Tao to Nai Yang, Phuket

Sat.,  April 8
Woke up in my damp room at 2am with stinging headache, drank some water. "I gotta get the f*^*k out of this fever pit as soon as possible." Fell asleep again
Wake up 7:10, didn't hear the alarm. Glad I packed everything the night before. Got ready in 20 minutes, right on time for the Transfer to Pier with the Diver shuttle pickup.

"I am very tired", she replies with her eyes almost closed, when I tell her her voice sounds a bit rough. She hugs me good bye, I feel warm, natural beauty and compassion, it reaches my soul.

Sun is out, every minute on the ferry makes me feel
better. Warm breeze, not damp bungalow air, stirred up by a fan with no change in humidity whatsoever. My lungs open again ...

Samui airport is a very convenient place for waiting time, open air waiting areas with free beverages and snacks, free wifi. And some are on the hunt

Some are out, hunting

Friendly Ground staff at Samui Airport
I fly Boutique – I feel unique!

FlightPG255 to Phuket is delayed 30 minutes. Leo gets annoyed, he wants to work on his tan, now that the sun is out.

We check in at TT Nai Yang Beach. Leo goes out to the beach immediately, wants to get some tan, no wonder after 8 days of rain!
The room is the best I have ever seen in the 1200 baht category. Beautiful modern design, tasteful color combination, and even more important, everything works. Coffee: check, Tea: check, Water kettle? Prefilled with 2 Liters of water, just plug and go. Fridge cold. Shower hot. Beautiful light combinations possible with all switches where you expect them. AC works like a breeze (aaah, those metaphors...;-)). The wardrobe has clothes hangers! There are straw mats for the beach.
The sink can be closed and it doesn't lose the water after 10 minutes. I like to wash my shirt in the evening and dry it overnight.
Lots of wall plugs at convenient places...

We pass a very relaxed and sunny late afternoon and evening on the beach together, moving only about 50 meters around our place. No need for more, at TT you have everything you can possibly need within 50 meters, restaurant, supermarket, ATM, pharmacy, open street bar, massage, scooter rental, you name it.

🚨(If you need/want the "other" massage or similar stuff, you will want to go to the South Side. Yes, they have a South Side here in Nai Yang, without the railroad track separating it from thr rest of town, though, but complete with white pickups, dark tinted windows, slowly cruising the street, stopping at every shop collecting 2000 baht without leaving the vehicle, Thai bars with unbearable music, games of Four Wins, "Hello Mista, massaaaaaaage?", raunchy brothels and Thai whores squeaking "Hellooo, handsome maaan". If that's your game, go south in Nai Yang 😜)

It's Leo's last evening in Thailand, I invite him for dinner at the Sea Almond Restaurant next to the TT. Man, that boy can eat! I have one dish, he has three, and he finishes them before me...;-)

Leo packs his bag, his flight home goes at 5:30am, I ordered a taxi for 3am. Some hours of sleep, we don't have to go to the street, taxi driver waits at the reception, we hug each other, "I am very proud of you, my son", "see you in June", I hand him a 1000 baht bill for the you never know case, and off he goes.

He came as a sportsman, not necessarily a passionate swimmer, and leaves as an Advanced Adventurer Diver.
I am very proud of my boy.
Mission accomplished!

Dad goes too, back to bed, first night in a dry room after long time. I sleep like a baby...

Sunday 9 April

So relaxed! Breakfast at peony's,
I can finally eat again...

pharmacy for nose and tubes decongestant, bronchiale mucolytic, and new sniff Stick Eukalyptus Menthol,
go for a swim, shower, wash some stuff in the sink, hang it out on the roof top terrace to dry, out for second breakfast early lunch,
Appetite returns, good sign

go buy some shirts, have to skip the old white WCD shirt, cut a cap and bandana out of it before dumping, rest and take a short nap, take my medicine, get out at 6pm, play a bit of time lapse with my camera on the roof terrace,

on my way out for dinner I have to explain the landlady Meouw (yes, that's a name...) every detail of the prosthesis, eat some spaghetti with garlic and butter,

I am getting on track again, feel fit to dive.
No pains, no dry coughing, I equalize easily, only my hearing is impaired a bit, muffled. Have to strike down from my ears along the throat or simply equalize to clear my tubes and hear sharp for a moment.

Crossed the street to listen to some music with a Bailey's on the rocks at the Hi Beach Bar across the street, writing blog posts, and go to sleep in a dry bed again. Wonderful!

Back to normal!
Itching to get back in the water 💦

See you under water
